The
renovation of a 200-year-old stone house near Round Hill, Virginia, was both a
challenge and an opportunity. The
European owner wished to create an upstairs apartment for him to stay in during
his visits to America. The
downstairs was occupied by the caretaker.
In creating the new space, the architect recommended removal of the old
cracked and broken plaster and the exposure of the 200 year old hand-hewn beams.
The gorgeous result created a wonderfully warm and cozy environment of
the historic old home.
