Shopping Center

This shopping center renovation located in the heart of
downtown Herndon, Virginia, included a new facade to a 1960 A & P grocery
store shopping center design and an infill addition of nine stores - adding
12,000 square feet to the original buildings.
The roof line of the existing grocery store served as the
basis for the design motif of a series of archways throughout the complex,
giving relief to the more than 300-foot-long horizontal covered walkway that pulled
both the old and new stores together.
The walkway cover was also designed with enough depth to
provide for new and tasteful signage for all the shops in the entire center.
The design created visual harmony and interest to a variety of
shops and created a new vitality to an old and deteriorating retail center.
